you ever feel like YOU'VE BEEN GIVEN TOO MUCH Jack closed his eyes as she kissed him, soaking in the feeling of her soft lips against his. No matter how many times they kissed, each and every one was perfect. A sensation he would never tire from. When she pulled away he slowly opened his eyes, his lips immediately curving into a smile. "Only certain blondes," he said playfully. No one had quite won him over like Sue had. And Levi, obviously in very different ways.
"Well in that case, I'm glad you cooked. I would have brought you right home if you showed up at work." She had incredible work ethic and so he wouldn't be entirely surprised if she did show up. He was just glad that she hadn't. Any extra rest she could get, was best. He chuckled when she signed that she had been bored out of his mind. "I know the feeling." All too well. "Well, thank you, for making supper," he told her, never taking these things for granted. "It smells delicious." Just like it always did. "The doctor didn't say anything else?" Jack asked, wanting to make sure there was nothing else he needed to be made aware of; no other imminent reasons for concern.

i think this WOULD BE AN EDUCATIONAL
MOMENT FOR HER Jack chuckled when she put on the headphones anyway, saying it wouldn't affect her hearing. He loved that she could play along with . . . these clear oversights and moments of ignorance on his part. Her sense of humor was one of the many reasons he . . . enjoyed her company. Deeply.
He smiled as she put the earmuffs on him and signed as to whether he could hear her. He was still learning ASL but understood the gist of what she was saying. He was playing along though, and signed back Sorry, what? I can't hear you he joked. It was so easy to be around her; so natural, so effortless. Even at a gun range they could have some fun like this. Ready? He signed with a slight wink, getting his gun ready.

call a lawyer AND SUE ME Jack listened intently as Sue explained that Levi was her hearing dog; and that she was deaf. Jack was intrigued by this and it was fortunate she continued speaking, because she had addressed his unasked question. Though, he assumed that she must get asked that a long. She read lips. How fascinating. She seemed to be quite articulate and was able to communicate with so much ease, Jack wouldn't have been able to guess.
"That's very interesting," he said with honesty. He suddenly became more curious about her story than anything else but . . . this was after all a professional interview and he needed to keep it as such. "I'll be sure to keep that in mind," he assured her, wanting to accommodate her to the best of his capabilities. "What made you want to apply for this position?" He asked. It was a legitimate question that he asked candidates . . . but in her case, he was perhaps just a little more interested in her answer than any of the other interviewees' responses.

you have a very COMMON SENSE WAY
OF LOOKING AT THINGS Jack smiled at her words, understanding the jest in them as well that . . . investigations might not take them to the best spots. "Oh for sure," he played along. "I'll get to give you tours of abandoned garages, warehouses, and surveillance trucks. Such is the glamorous life of an FBI agent." Though he knew she wouldn't technically be one . . . she would still have some training.
"Too bad it doesn't take us to more, 5 star locations." It sometimes did, but not often enough. When she then brought up yelling at him, saying that she was surprised he wanted to talk to her after that, Jack smiled with amusement. "I didn't take it personally," he assured her. "Besides, I might have done the same thing as you if I got stuck in fingerprinting." He could understand where she was coming from. Truth was, he saw something in her. Something special.
Otherwise, he wouldn't be doing all this to try and get her transferred after spending lunch with her. "Let's hope that the next time you have to see personnel, is for your transfer papers. I'll even take you take you there myself so you don't have to worry about going to the wrong office," he said teasingly, making light of the situation so that she didn't have to feel bad about it.

was it LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT Hearing her say that . . . nearly broke his heart. That guys did not see Sue as the beautiful person that she was. "Then it's their loss," he told her honestly. And they weren't worth it. Jack meant what he said . . . any guy was lucky to be with her. But as the conversation moved along, he didn't dwell on it. Probably for the best. He didn't exactly enjoy thinking of her with another guy. He had already seen it and it wasn't exactly a great feeling. Though, he knew he had no right to feel that way . . . he couldn't help it.
He smiled at the question, pretending to think about it but knew the answer was more straightforward. "I learned it," he decided. "But not to just impress the girl," he told her. "But so that I could be . . . " He paused for a moment, attempting to sign the rest a part of her world. Because it was important to him, to connect with her in this way. To communicate in ways that accommodated her and not just him. Realizing the answer might be a bit too . . . sentimental, he decided to move the conversation along. "When and where was our first kiss?" He asked with a bit of a playful smile.

there's just a lot OF HISTORY BETWEEN US Jack softly smiled when she asked him to tell her what the doctors said. He didn't want to worry her but at the same time . . . kind of liked that she worried about him. He knew it wasn't an unusual thing for Sue to do; she was naturally an incredibly caring and compassionate person. "Sure," he said in a tone to match the smile. She then told him that she wasn't going to talk about work with him . . . yes.
She did know him well. Jack scrunched up his face a little at the thought of taking Myles to dinner instead of Sue. "I think I would rather ask Levi about work than Myles," Jack said jokingly. "He'd probably give me more, in less words and with less sarcasm too," Jack continued to joke, with a bit of a chuckle. Myles was one of his dear friends but it was rather fun to tease the man. "Come on," he playfully pleaded. "At least tell me what it's about?" He asked, glad that they reached a red light so that he could look at her with the same plea to match his tone.

just you and me FOR OLD TIME'S SAKE Today was just one of those days. Jack has to testify earlier in court first thing in the morning and amidst all that, they were moving office spaces. The bullpen was a mess; papers everywhere, boxes filling the room . . . there was a lot more that needed to be organized and time was not exactly their strong suit. Which, was why Jack wanted to save time and instead of going out and grabbing lunch . . . figured it would just be easier to get food from the cafeteria. As he filled his tray, he looked around the room to see if there were any familiar faces.
But, instead, his eyes rested on a dog. He couldn't help but stare, noticing that the dog had it's own ID tag. Curiosity was getting the better of him, and he decided to walk past her, maybe try and strike a conversation. But as he started to walk by and casually turned his head to see her, he froze. When he was looking for familiar faces . . . this was not who he had at all thought he would see here. When she seemed to notice a figure just standing there and started to turn to face him, he spoke. "Sue?" He both questioned and greeted, surprise evident on his face as he couldn't help but just stare at her in this moment.

TO BE ENOUGH Jack and a few other firemen hopped in the truck and went straight to the source. They had been informed that someone had called a fire in, and one of the detectors was going off like crazy. Once they got there, they would be better able to assess it. Jack leaped out of the truck, another one already uncoiling the water hose as he grabbed an extinguisher. Sometimes, that was the quickest fix, depending on the severity of the fire itself. They got inside, and made their way to the room, already able to smell the smoke creeping out from under the door. A few people had poked their heads out to see what was happening.
"Fire department!" Jack announced as he loudly knocked on the door. There was no response. Maybe they weren't home. Taking a slight step back he raised his leg and kicked the door, breaking it and allowed them entrance. One woman gasped at the sight while another was in the kitchen attempting to put the fire out. Jack approached her from behind. "Ms, get back," he told her, but she was unresponsive. The other couple firemen with him were already opening the windows to let some of the smoke out. "Ms?!" Jack said, his voice a bit louder. When he finally was standing right behind her, he gently pulled her arm so that she was physically moved away from the fire, more behind him, at which point, he pulled out the hose of the extinguisher and put out the flame.

there's just a lot OF HISTORY BETWEEN US Once she was in, he closed the door and went around to the driver's side, getting in, buckling up and starting to head towards the direction of the restaurant, as Sue asked whether he'd been back to the doctors. "Not yet," he began. "My follow up appointment is in a few days." A week after he was discharged. "I've just been taking the medication they prescribed." And was forced to take it easy, unfortunately. Jack was not used to this much relaxation time.
"How have you been?" He asked, knowing that her past few days would be a lot more interesting than his. "Had a big case?" Since she had said that she was working and it was late. He felt so . . . out of the know with everything. But also knew that he had needed to really clear his mind these past few days and do more self reflection rather than try to find out what cases they were working and whether he could be of any assistance.

there's just a lot OF HISTORY BETWEEN US Jack smiled when he saw Sue approach, and Levi as he hurried toward him. Jack crouched down to greet Levi, giving him extra excited rubs on the head and behind the ears. "Great to see you too buddy," he told her, having missed his canine friend. Jack stood up once more, opening the back door for Levi to hop inside the car as Sue mentioned that he should be resting.
"I know I said I was going to take advantage of all the sick leave I had coming but, I got . . . " He paused for a moment, deciding to sign the rest as she recently taught it to him. Bored out of my mind. While it wasn't boredom that had brought him out today, he said it more as a way to lighten the mood. "Besides, I wanted to see you." He knew it may be treading a bit too close to saying something too soon, or not the right way, but once again, he wanted to be honest. And surely, he could say this to her as a friend. But just in case it added any awkwardness to the moment, he opened the car door for her, waiting for her to go inside the car.

there's just a lot OF HISTORY BETWEEN US Jack felt relieved when she agreed. He knew it shouldn't be a surprise or anything but . . . as he previously thought, with how he left things, he just wasn't sure any more. While he wanted things to go back to the way they were, he also wanted . . . to tell her what she deserved to hear. Maybe more of an answer when she had asked him about him and Allie now. At the time, all he could say was I don't know. But he supposed, he knew now, at least when it came to that part of his life.
Sounds perfect. I can pick you up. Let's say half an hour? In case she needed to do anything on the way home or needed time before hand. When she agreed, Jack got himself ready as well, cleaning up a few things in his home before it was time to get her. Dressed casually, but well enough to go to a restaurant, he made his way to his car, and drove over to her place, parking in the front of her building. I'm outside. One of the . . . challenges about these kinds of things, was the involvement of the team when it came to the 2 of them. Jack thought it better that Sue could just come down rather than Jack having to explain to Lucy. At least this time around.

"What can I say, he certainly won me over early on . . . maybe even before you did," Jack said teasingly, clearly jokingly as he gave Levi a few more pets before giving his full attention to his wife. The concern still present over her health. "I missed both of you today," he admitted. It was truly a blessing to spend all day working with the woman he loved, and then coming home together as well . . . and somehow, they never got sick of each other.
"Vitamins?" He asked, finding that to be interesting. Maybe she needed something to boost her immune system? "I'm glad that it isn't anything serious then," he told her with relief, but still wanted to make sure she was resting until she felt completely better. At least she looked better. "I thought you were supposed to take it easy today, not cook," he teased, lifting the bag with the soup inside. "I picked up some soup on the way home in case you still weren't feeling that great." He couldn't help but look her over as if to further convince himself that she was truly better.

call a lawyer AND SUE ME Jack shook her hand, taking in her introduction of both her and the canine she had brought along. Jack looked down at Levi for a moment before returning his gaze to her. "Pleasure to meet you both," he said honestly . . . even though the dog was a bit of an unexpected addition. Jack motioned for her to have a seat as he did the same on the other side of the desk.
"Before we get started Ms. Thomas," Jack said, knowing that he couldn't hold it back any longer. It was going to be a distracting thought -- or question -- on his mind during the interview. "I have to ask . . . we don't get many dogs in our law firm?" He both stated and questioned, leaving the opportunity there for her to address why she had been able to bring a dog into the building. Now Jack was by all means, a dog person. And he could understand the bond an owner had to their canine companion . . . but this was certainly a first.

OUT OF MY CONTROL Jack turned to look at her when he heard that she was awake, his lips curving into a smile. "I can't help it," he admitted sheepishly. "Though maybe he's the one spoiling me," Jack suggested. He did enjoy the attention that Levi gave him as well. He felt the warmth of her touch as she placed her hand over his still beating heart. A heart beat that just needed to be controlled.
"Never better," he told her, not entirely kidding. Her company certainly help him feel a lot more at ease. Emotionally anyway. Though his mind was still processing the entire ordeal. And out . . . outside of his control this was. "How about you?" He asked in return. "Did you sleep alright?" He knew she couldn't have been incredibly comfortable, and yet the fact that she had spent the night here with him . . . meant a great deal to him. She meant a great deal to him.

there's just a lot OF HISTORY BETWEEN US Jack smiled at her response about Levi wanting to finish the case. While it didn't surprise him that she was still working -- there were occasions where they couldn't leave the Bureau until the current case was solved. It did make him wonder if she was up for meeting him though, knowing that she must be exhausted.
Leave it to Levi to always be such a dedicated worker, Jack joked back. He knew things had been a bit . . . odd since everything had happened. Not seeing her every day like he was used to also didn't help. I was wondering if you wanted to grab dinner. Or maybe go for a walk? He wasn't sure if she had eaten or not, and he didn't mind just meeting her for a casual stroll. Either way, that was what he was trying to make it sound like: casual.

there's just a lot OF HISTORY BETWEEN US It had been a few days since Jack had been discharged from the hospital and while he was still in the process of recovering . . . he had a lot more going on in his head than anything else. Recent events proved that life was short, unpredictable. And as he had said to Sue in the hospital . . . this all made him think about things that he'd been doing . . . or not been doing. In this case, it was the not been doing part and that was, being honest with himself. Following his heart. Because at the end of that path . . . was Sue.
Allie's presence had complicated things and yet, made them clear at the same time. He didn't like how he had left things with Sue when the elevator parted them, and he hadn't seen her since. But what he did know, was that he wasn't getting back together with Allie. She would always be near and dear to him, but he knew it was time to be honest with himself. And it wasn't fair to Allie if they gave their relationship another chance, when he knew he deeply cared for another woman. But to say that Jack was nervous telling Sue about that . . . was an understatement. They were such good friends, and he was terrified of losing that. Still. If he was being honest with himself, then he had to be honest with her too.
It was evening and he figured she would be home by now if there wasn't some big case at work keeping everyone busy. Truth was, he missed it. Despite the need for recovery, Jack was already itching to get back to work. Though, he supposed that in this time of being home, it was the best time for reflection . . . hence, what prompted him to message Sue. Hey, you free? He asked. The two of them had dinner before, evening walks, and so on . . . but this time, it felt different. He didn't even know what he was going to say to her or how much he was going to reveal about his own feelings; only that he wanted to be honest. After all, life was too short to wonder about the What Ifs.

this was my OWN HEART OUT OF CONTROL
OUT OF MY CONTROL Jack slowly opened his eyes as he felt himself slipping back into the conscious world. He felt more groggy than usual . . . and it took him a minute to properly open his eyes and orientate himself. His surroundings were unfamiliar but eventually, everything came back to him. He was in the hospital . . . for something he never thought he'd ever need to be in the hospital for. Bobby's words came rushing back to his mind: trying to set a record for youngest man who had a heart attack. That certainly seemed like the case.
He then noticed something -- or someone -- more familiar than the room around him. His two front paws were on the bed and his tail wagging excitedly. "Hey buddy," Jack greeted in a low voice, raising his hand to pet Levi on the head. He slightly turned his head, now finally realizing that Sue was lying next to him. He gave a small smile, touched that she had stayed here with him . . . slept here, in what he knew must be uncomfortable. Watching her for a moment -- as best as he could from this angle -- he turned back to Levi.
"Let's not wake her up," he told him, wanting Sue to get however much rest she could. He hadn't meant to worry her when all this had happened, though knew he had. It truly just showed how short life could be and he felt so incredibly blessed that he was with those he most cared for . . . and that he was still around to continue to be with them. Especially the woman that lay next to him right now.

call a lawyer AND SUE ME Finding an assistant was no easy task. His previous assistant was moving out of state and Jack was already feeling the loss. He had a pile of resumes on his desk and wanted to personally interview each candidate. His partner and his law firm was quite successful and building a strong reputation. Both he and her and been working hard for many years and it certainly had paid off. Hudson & Portman LLP. Angela was as driven as he, albeit a bit more intense. But never the less, they worked well together. Fortunately, her assistant wasn't moving away; just his.
Quickly scribbling down his signature on a paper, he heard a light knock at the door, looking up to see his temp assistant stand at the threshhold. "Mr. Hudson, your next candidate is here." "Good, send them in," he welcomed, looking at the list of names and timings. Sue Thomas. Jack looked back up at the temp when she did not seem to move. "She may not be a good fit. I can tell her to leave if you like?" This peaked Jack's curiosity. "Thank you but I'll be the judge of that," he told her, setting aside all distractions as his temporary assistant finally went to his next appointment. Jack watched the door as the young blond woman entered . . . along with a dog. Standing up out of politeness he went around his desk to welcome her. "Ms. Thomas," he said, extending his hand for her to shake.

is there a sign for BORED OUT OF YOUR MIND This was the part of the job that Jack wasn't a fan of: paperwork. Not just doing the paper work but in this particular case, having to read through mountains and mountains of paper work. He was in the meeting room with a few others, and they hadn't even made a dent in all they had to get through. He knew it would be worth it but it didn't make this entire experience any less . . . dull.
Jack looked up from his current stack of papers when Myles stood up and said that he was going to take a break. Jack gave a slight nod before resting his eyes on Sue; the number in the room was dwindling slowly, but as Jack had been the first one in here after Sue, he planned on being the last too. He gave a slight wink at her before looking back down at his papers. "Mind making some fresh coffee while you're out there," he said nonchalantly to Myles before he left, closing the door behind him.

MOMENT FOR HER Now Jack of course knew that Sue wasn't technically an agent as that required a whole different level of credentials and training. And he knew that with that, meant that she was not permitted to carry any firearms. Still. It didn't mean that she shouldn't learn how to shoot. One never knew what could happen in the heat of the moment where she was forced to protect herself.
She had already dodged several bullets, and Jack wanted her to learn to defend herself in extreme cases. While he hoped it never came to that, and that she would not be placed in any danger . . . the reality of their jobs was that she could be. And had been. This was just one more to protect oneself. And who better than himself to teach her. Besides, it made a nice outing for evening.
When they arrived at the gun range, Jack greeted the worker, someone he knew as this was not the first time he'd been there. He introduced Sue to him and Jack selected their guns, picking what he felt would be a good first time weapon for Sue. Nothing difficult to control or too heavy to bare. The man handed Jack two pairs of ear muffs, one of which he reflexively handed to Sue without thinking twice about it. He paused for a moment and then gave a slightly sheepish smile. "Right . . . " He said, mentally kicking himself for not having thought it through.
