you ever feel like YOU'VE BEEN GIVEN TOO MUCH Fortunately, Jack didn't have too late of a day at the office. Sue hadn't been feeling well so with some persistence, he managed to convince her to stay home and rest. Though, he did miss her today. Despite having worked together for so many years, and now being married for 3, he still missed her in the times that they were not together for the day. Especially for a reason like this where it was due to her feeling unwell that she wasn't able to come in.
He had made a quick stop at the store to pick up some soup for her before entering the home that they had bought not long after their wedding. As he entered, Levi came to greet him to which Jack knelt down and greeted him in return by petting his head. "I missed you today buddy," he told him, before raising to a stand when he saw Sue. "Hey, how are you feeling?" He asked, approaching her and trying to see at a quick glance if she was any better, or worse.

was it LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT Sue's question was indeed a heavy one. Had anyone been at the right place at the right time. He supposed there was no simple answer. His past dating experiences and relationships had been a mix. Some short. Some long term. Some amicable. Some tragic. Between Allie, Jessica, Kristin . . . just to name a few, Jack's had his fair share of relationships. None of which had truly stuck to the point of marriage. "Maybe in some cases," he said truthfully, not wanting to lie about it.
"But none to the point of marriage." Speaking aloud his earlier thoughts. At least that much revealed that he had never been married before. "I guess timing has something to do with it too," he added on. "Or maybe just, not finding the right person to marry." It wasn't that he didn't want to get married it was just . . . suddenly, this conversation was getting deeper and deeper. He was relieved when she started talking, so that it stopped him from doing so. She said that she had not been on many dates. Jack found that hard to believe. While he doubted he'd find anyone would be good enough for Sue, he also knew that any guy would be incredibly lucky to be with her. She was a beautiful person, inside and out. She was kind, generous, caring and had so many other qualities that Jack could endlessly list.
When she started speaking about wanting to be friends with someone . . . he couldn't help but look at her, returning her gaze. Yes. That certainly was the ideal. Friends first, to something more. He wanted to ask if she felt that way around him; like she could be herself, that she didn't have to try . . . but that question might be a bit too telling, and with the gaze between them, silence seemed to briefly filled the air . . . until the comment about Levi which once again, Jack was grateful for.
"Oh, well that's a given," he said, smiling at the golden retriever as he scratched him behind his ears. "For what it's worth . . ." He began to say, deciding to continue to speak aloud his thoughts. "Any guy would be extremely lucky to be with you." And the selfish part of him had often questioned . . . what if that guy could be him. "So what if we say that we were both volunteering at an animal shelter. We became friends, one thing led to another . . . and before we knew it, we were married." Seemed like a simple enough cover story; with Levi in the picture too, would create that bond of a mutual love for animals.

OF LOOKING AT THINGS When she suggested that he could show her around, Jack had to quickly think as to whether he actually voiced his thoughts about it. Who knew that she could read minds as well as lips. "I'd be happy to," he said with a smile. "The city can be a bit overwhelming at first, but there's lots to do. And it'll grow on you." Jack couldn't imagine living anywhere else . . . though it was the job that fueled his love for the city.
"Then again, if you do get transferred to my team, you may not have too much time for sightseeing," he teased, making sure his expression -- since tone wasn't really relevant -- made it clear that he was joking. Finishing his cookie, he let out a small chuckle when she explained that she didn't hear the siren, and that the police officer didn't like that fact. It was so interesting to hear things from her perspective; to hear how things that they -- he -- took for granted or wouldn't even think of, was experienced so differently by her. "That sounds like quite the adventurous road trip. I'm glad to hear he was understanding about the situation." Since she had said she was only given a warrant. Something told him that she had met plenty of people who were . . . less than understanding.

he FOLLOWED YOU?! She said she wasn't sure before explaining what he had said; saying that things were changing and that the game was fun. Yes. It certainly did sound like a game to him, and he was enjoying it. The power he felt he had over them, and everyone at the company. It was after all why he had initially called Daughtry with the threat. Proctor could have blown up the place without anyone suspecting it, but he wanted them to know about it. And as Sue said, he was still planning on going through with his plan. Which was why time was of the essence. Critical . . . because lives did indeed depend on it.
"I know," Jack said softly when she said that it was frustrating. The confines of politics and the law itself hindered them many times before, and would in the future. And the sooner Sue discovered that, he supposed the better. "But we will stop him," he assured her. "We'll find a way. You identified him as the threat Sue. Without that, we wouldn't even have known who we were looking for." He knew she felt guilty for the mistake about the illegal search warrant, but he also wanted her to focus on the good work she had done on the case. And not let the others doubt of her, make her doubt herself. "Why don't you stay here for a bit," he offered. "I can take you home later, and we'll put agents outside your home." In case Proctor decided to try anything else. Though he didn't like the thought of her being by herself.

he FOLLOWED YOU?! At this point, Jack was more concerned about Proctor knowing where she lived rather than him knowing where he lived. He had clearly targeted Sue, undoubtedly knowing that she was the one who had found him out . . . it made Jack worried for what else Proctor might do, or try to do. Jack wasn't about to let anything happen to Sue. "Does he know where you live?" Jack asked. Sue said that he had followed her and that she had went to the store, but Jack wanted to make sure that she didn't stop home in between, even briefly.
If she had, there was a chance Proctor was waiting for her at her house. If not, then Proctor had probably followed Sue from work after he was released. Either way, it was concerning and quite unsettling. "He's taunting us," Jack agreed. It wasn't the first time someone with malicious intent taunted the police. Terrorists often did it. Serial killers. "He thinks he's smarter than us," Jack continued to say. Which only added onto the urgency of needing to find something to prove what he was planning. "What did he say exactly?" Jack asked, wondering if there was a threat directed at Sue in his statements, or whether this was all just him working to scare her.

OF LOOKING AT THINGS Jack continued to smile, taking another bite of the cookie as she answered his question, explaining that they both had just moved here. "Well in that case, welcome to Washington," he properly greeted.
"If you ever need recommendations of good places to eat, or places to visit, just let me know." Even if he wasn't successful in transferring her over to his team -- though he was determined to do so -- he hoped they could still stay in touch.
He even almost offered to show her those places himself but had to fight back the suggestion. Fortunately, he had a cookie to occupy his mouth rather than spouting out questions of what would sound like asking her out on a date. Which, he supposed is exactly what it would have been. She spoke of getting a warning ticket, smiling at what he was sure had a story to it. "A warning ticket for what?" He asked, hoping it wasn't too intrusive of him to do so.

was it LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT How did Jack want to meet the woman he would marry. Truth was, he hadn't given much thought to that . . . at least the circumstances in which he'd like to meet someone. He'd met people through work, outside of work, social settings and events . . . it often just depended on when their paths crossed, and timing of course. "I haven't really thought about it," he said, speaking aloud his thoughts.
"I guess its just more about right place at the right time." Which, ironically, was how they had met. Of all the people Sue could have told off mistakingly for personally -- mainly anyone else on his team -- he just so happened to be the one she had encountered. Who knew, that a mix up could have resulted in well, all that came from it. But it was as he had said in the hospital to her; maybe it wasn't a mistake after all. "How would you want to meet someone?" He asked, curious to know if she ever had thoughts of the ideal way to meet a partner or in this case, spouse. Well, fake spouse.

was it LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT Jack smiled at her profession. "You sure that's ambitious enough for you?" He asked with a playful tease; no sooner than her own comment about the mild mannered typist. "Guess it's fun to pretend to be people so far removed from the truth." Going undercover had it's fun aspects . . . though truth be told, Jack was especially having fun going undercover with Sue. At least with this part.
He knew the pretending was going to have it's . . . challenges -- maybe for more unexpected reasons -- and there was also danger associated with going undercover. But the fact that he got along so well with her, made this seem so . . . effortless. Perhaps a little too easy to fall in sync as the happily married couple. "Ohio sounds perfect," he stated, making a mental note to let her take the lead on answering questions about her home town. "How did we meet?" He asked her, wanting to hear her creativity about the answer. Predictable response would be that they met at the library, he just wanted to hear what she would come up with, or if it veered from that simple circumstance as to how they met.

he FOLLOWED YOU?! Jack was relieved to hear that Sue was ok -- or that both Sue and Levi were ok -- but it wasn't difficult to tell that she was shaken. And rightfully so. This was her first case and with that, Jack had hoped there wouldn't be so many complications or dangers from it.
Clearly, that was not the case. It was true that he was probably following her . . . watching her. Which brought up the next question he had. "Did he follow you here?" Jack asked, ready to go out and find out so that he could give Proctor a piece of his mind. Had he followed Sue home? Did he know where she lived? Sue was observant enough to know if she was being followed and either way, Jack was going to make sure she didn't see Proctor again tonight. "Here," he said, motioning to his couch. "Have a seat," he gently encouraged.

was it LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT Jack watching Sue start to unpack as he took out a few of his own clothes, putting them in the closet before she spoke of planning out a cover story. "Yeah it's best we sort it out now to keep things consistent."That way, they were not just looking at each other with frequent pauses when people asked what Jack predicted, would be the incredibly common questions of where did you meet? What do you do? How long have you been married for? The usual, typical stuff.
Not exactly Jack's area of expertise but for this trip, he was probably going to have to engage in the same sort of questioning. "I thought I'd say that I'm a writer who does technical manuals for large corporations." A boring profession but that was the point; people wouldn't ask too many questions about it or try to get the deeper details. "What about you?" He asked, wondering if she had given any thought about her back story in this undercover position.

he FOLLOWED YOU?! Jack closed the door behind Levi, turning to face Sue as she explained the reason for her distress. Jack's expression shifted to one of concern, hearing that Proctor had clearly been watching and apparently waiting for Sue."He was waiting for you?" Jack repeated and acknowledged at the same time, the concern on his expression matching his tone of voice.
"Are you ok?" He asked immediately after, his eyes searching Sue for any indication that Proctor had harmed her. Sue was his responsibility, but more than that . . . he felt protective over her. Fully aware that the need to protect her went beyond that of just a training agent. But of course, he couldn't exactly voice that. He had so many questions to ask her but was waiting for the answer to the most important one now: was she ok. Then, Jack would address the rest.

OF LOOKING AT THINGS Jack gave a small nod as he watched her walk off into what he presumed was her bedroom. He stood there, watching Levi as Levi watched him. Fortunately, it was not much longer until Sue came out and started to dry off Levi, explaining that he had jumped in to let Sue know that he was here. "That's good that he's so, enthusiastic about his job," Jack said with a smile, a tease in his voice though he did mean it.
Levi had been what initially intrigued Jack about Sue in regards to wanting to find out more about who she was. Well, that and the fact that she was a rather beautiful woman. Levi just happened to be a great conversation starter. He took a few more steps into the apartment from the hallway, landing him in the living room where Sue brought him a cookie. His smile grew when he took notice of what type they were. "Oatmeal raisin," he acknowledged, as he took one in his hand. "They just happen to be my favourite type of cookie," he revealed. Taking a bite of it, he savoured the flavour, chewing and swallowing before continuing. "So you recently moved to DC?" He asked, wanting to know more about her.

was it LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT Jack smiled with amusement when Sue mentioned that Levi had no grass. "Don't worry buddy, you have even more special accommodations than we do," he said only half kidding. This particular cruise didn't normally allow dogs, but since Sue's was a special case . . . they were allowing it.
And special accommodations were being made. "Either that or we can train him to use the bathroom," Jack joked. "He is Levi the Wonderdog after all." The thought of it made Jack's smile remain in place. He moved the suitcases onto the bed so that it would be easier to unpack. They would need time to explore the ship but first . . . it would be nice to take a few moments to just over a few things and familiarize themselves with what would be their living quarters for the next week.

was it LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT Jack stared at the very large cruise ship as the people were boarding. This was the first time he'd had a case like this one . . . one which required him to go undercover on a cruise ship. The details of the case were complex, but the objective was to gather incriminating evidence against one of the most notorious man that had been in the FBI list for quite some time. This might be their only chance to get him. From money laundering, to illegal trade . . . he was going to on this cruise along with a few other men that they had linked to him. All they needed was to gather was much intelligence as they could, have it documented, present to a judge and then get a warrant for his arrest. Unfortunately, it was not as easily thought as done. That was where both Sue and him came into play.
They were to go undercover as a married couple; unsuspecting and perhaps even try to form some sort of ties with him and his wife, among the others. Even if they didn't, Sue would be able to pick up on any suspicious conversations that could be used against him. Their time was limited, as was their space . . . considering they were going to be on a cruise ship for the next week. He turned to Sue, signing Ready? before she confirmed, he picked up her bag and his own and they boarded the ship.
Presenting their tickets at the front, they were then directed to their room. Once there, he waited for Sue to open the door as she stepped in and he followed. The room was not big, which was to be expected. But what Jack would soon realize, unexpectadly, was that the floor didn't even have enough space for him to sleep on. The bed was large, and they had a private bathroom as well as closet. "Not bad," he commented, setting the bags on the side as the door closed behind him.

he FOLLOWED YOU?! Jack had left work late, trying to finish up a couple of things and continue to get an angle on their suspect: a man they knew was guilty yet were unable to bring in. Jack took full responsibility for what had happened. A conversation with him and Elridge also put his mind at ease that mistakes did happen, and that it wasn't enough to transfer her out. Jack had faith in her, confidence in her and despite the mistake made now . . . she had at least identified a threat. Now, they just needed to creative on how to get him.
After getting home, Jack decided a late night run would help distract his mind and burn off some of that stress, picking up some take out on the way home. Quickly showering, changing into casual attire consisting of sweats and a t-shirt, and settling in for the night . . . a knock at the door alerted him to other plans. Making his way there, he opened it to see Sue on the other end. An unexpected but by no means unwelcome visitor.
"Hi," he greeted. "Everything alright?" He asked as he stepped aside so that she could enter. This was the first question that popped into mind. He knew she too must have a lot on her mind when it came to the case, and the need to prove herself to others -- which Jack hated that she had to -- so he wondered if it was such troubles that brought her to his doorstep at this hour. Plus, the expression on her was one that kept Jack from thinking that everything was great.

LOOKING AT THINGS Jack was starting to feel a bit bad for having to say no again. She had offered him a drink and he had politely declined, but now she was offering him something else . . . a cookie. And to keep rejecting the offer felt a bit, rude. Though he also knew it wasn't exactly good to show up announced. Should she join his team, being prepared for all sorts of circumstances was a requirement. But not exactly like this. With her in a bath robe. Clearly, he had caught her at a bad time. Not to mention the fact that Levi was also drenched.
He was fairly certain there was a story there . . . one that he found himself wanting to here ever since the flicker of curiosity crossed his gaze as she first opened the door. "Uh, sure," he finally accepted with a smile and nod of his head as she insisted on the cookie. "Thanks," he gratefully and preemptively stated. Truth was, he was rather intrigued by Sue and even though they had just met, already found himself quite enjoying her company. "I can wait here if you need to . . ." Hoping she would understand his unfinished sentence as he caught himself staring over her, clearly hinting towards her possible need to change into some clothes.

.:Personality:. Jack is a fairly easy going, man of simplicity. He is a friendly individual, has a good sense of humour, and is not overly difficult to get along with. He is very family oriented, whether it is his family of blood or family of heart. He is fiercely loyal and will not hesitate to do all within his capabilities to protect and support those he cares about. He displays strong leadership skills and is extremely knowledgeable in his area of work. Because of this, he is confident in his capabilities as both a FBI agent and a unit leader.
Jack is a man of faith which drives his behaviour and strength of morals and values. Jack is fairly level headed but does have his moments where stress and anger get the better of him. He was a good student, perhaps a little too eager in his contributions in the class, but his academics were strong. He was a very social boy, something that has remained consistent as he grew older. He still keeps in touch with childhood friends, Allie for instance, and has helped a troubled youth that his family took in named Billy, who he remains in close contact with still.
Jack was always a driven individual and at a young age he had ambitions to play hockey professionally but eventually learned at the age of 10 that he was never going to make it. He changed his focus, interested in joining law enforcement. Initially he hoped to join the police academy but ambition continued to drive him. He first studied law before he eventually joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He excelled in this position and soon enough, became the unit leader of a surveillance team where he now currently works, unable to imagine himself doing anything else.
