.:Birthplace:. Boardman, Ohio
.:Family:. Sue’s parents raised her to be a very independent woman. They had her enroll in a regular school instead of one for deaf children so that their daughter would be immersed in the hearing world. Because of them Sue was able to learn how to adapt. They still live in Ohio after Sue left for Washington DC. They are however worried that she may not be able to cope with living so far away from home. She also has three brothers, Paul, Bobby and Billy.
.:Friends:. Levi, Lucy, Jack, Bobby, Myles, Dimitrius,Tara, Amanda, Howie, Troy, Charlie
.:Occupation:. Special Investigative Analyst for the FBI
.:History:.
Sue was not born deaf, but early in her childhood her hearing was gone in what seemed to be an instant. One moment she was being teased for having bird droppings in her hair, the next she was unable to hear. Doctors were mystified by what happened to her and unable to give an explanation as to why she couldn’t hear anymore.
After realizing that the doctors wouldn’t be able to do anything to help their daughter to hear again, Sue’s parents encouraged her to live in both a hearing and deaf world. Her mother fought for her to have every opportunity to live life to the fullest and not be at any disadvantage for being deaf. Because of this Sue became a very independent woman. Sue was taught both ASL and to read lips (by Miss Casey – the “iron witch” as Sue called her), so that she can both sign to people who understand sign language, but she can also carry on conversations with people who don’t sign based on her lip reading ability. This ability of her would also play a great part later in life at the FBI. She is able to speak, sign, read lips, sing, play the piano, ice skate and she attended college.
Sue applied for and was hired to work for the FBI. She packed up her things and headed for Washington DC, picking up her first hearing dog, Levi, on her way there. When she arrived she learned that she would be assigned to “Special Projects” where she would spend most of her day analyzing fingerprints. She wasn’t at all happy with this assignment and felt that there was more that she could do. In her attempt to tell the personnel office of her feelings on the subject, she ended up giving an earful to Special Agent Jack Hudson. He was stunned by her ability to communicate so well despite being deaf and the two went to lunch, where Sue demonstrated her ability to read lips, even from far away. Knowing what a useful gift that ability really was, and how helpful it could be to his team, Jack became her Training agent, making her a part of his team where her talent would be better used.
